Radiation Oncology at New York’s Top Hospital:
Dosimetrists Make It Possible
Medical Dosimetrist – Days
NewYork-Presbyterian is one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic health care delivery systems, dedicated to providing the highest quality, most compassionate care to patients in the New York metropolitan area and throughout the globe. The David H. Koch Center, opening in April 2018 at our NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell campus, will set a new bar in personalized outpatient care -- from diagnosis to treatment -- by integrating new technologies and innovative clinical approaches to provide the highest quality care and enhance the patient experience. This 750,000-square foot, multi-specialty treatment center is designed to accommodate the latest technologies and will feature many innovations in the delivery of care to meet patients’ expectations in new ways.
As a Medical Dosimetrist within New York’s #1-ranked hospital (U.S.News & World Report), you’ll be working closely with five other dosimetrists and nine physicists in providing radiation treatments for common and rarely seen cases from around the world. Your primary responsibility would be implementing and reviewing isodose plans and assuring completeness of plan preparation for treatment and compliance with standard organ constraints. You will also have the opportunity to participate in dosimetry meetings and departmental peer review rounds of patient plans.
Eclipse, in combination with the Velocity software platform for deformable registration, is used for planning 3D, 4D, IMRT, RapidArc and SBRT treatments. Brainlab is used for all SRS and SRT treatments. With the opening of the new center in 2018, there will be 5 linear accelerators serving the department of Radiation Oncology including 3 Truebeam (one with ExacTrac), an MR-Linac utilizing MR guidance for daily treatments and a Varian iX linac. ARIA is the backbone for all planning and technical documentation making for a smooth flow of information from planning through treatment.
Join us in preparing for NYP’s newest state-of-the-art ambulatory care center and make a difference in the lives of our patients as you build a rewarding career.
