Development Associate

NewYork-Presbyterian seeks a Development Associate based at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center’s East 68th Street site. This position will report to and work closely with a Principal Gifts Officer to assist in the Hospital’s efforts to secure funding for capital projects, stat-of-the-art technology, and many other initiatives. Promote ongoing engagement with donors and prospective donors via cultivation events and stewardship materials. In order to be successful, this individual will need to work collaboratively with other staff in the Office of Development and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

 

Key Responsibilites 

 

  • Frequently arranges meetings with high-level participants, such as senior leadership at the Hospital, Trustees, donors, and physicians.
  • Helps to maintain effective relationships with current and prospective donors in order to meet the fundraising goals of the Hospital.
  • Drafts progress reports, briefings for meetings, acknowledgement letters and helps to ensure proper and timely updates about projects/programs funded by donors.
  • Serves as liaison to Special Events staff to coordinate events that bring those strategies to life.
  • Communicates with the offices of donors, administrators and volunteers to provide information and follow-up.
  • Participates in meetings including staff meetings, council meetings with donors, strategy sessions, campaign meetings and others as deemed necessary.
  • Utilizes fundraising software database to input data and extract information.
  • Maintains knowledge of all capital campaign priorities at NYP.

 

Preferred Criteria

  • Experience in a hospital or medical setting
  • Experience working with volunteer committees
  • Fundraising, public relations, and/or event planning experience

 

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel 
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail
