Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator – Lower Manhattan

Provide technical assistance, program management, and quality control for the Hospital’s Environmental Health and Safety Program, and the Hospitals Fire/Life Safety Program, in areas of training, operations, construction, and inspection. This position supports 20,000 staff with respect to environmental/ occupational health, fire, and safety issues.

 

Preferred Criteria

  • Master’s Degree in Safety, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene or Science
  • Certification as a Safety Professional
  • Fire Drill Conductor
  • Fire Safety Director

 Required Criteria

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 3 to 5 years of related experience in Environmental Health and Safety
  • General Fire Safety Certification of Fitness
  • Successful completion of the following training programs: EPA RCRA, DOT, IATA, HAZWOPER
  • Thorough knowledge of Joint Commission, EPA, NYS-DEC, NYC-DEP, FDNY, OSHA, NFPA Standards, NYC Fire Department Directives, and NYC Fire and Building Codes
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, database management and spreadsheet development
  • Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety
  • Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene
  • Knowledge of Fire Safety
  • Knowledge of Emergency Response
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills to direct work, build strong relationships, effectively collaborate and quickly resolve issues
